After 14 years working as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) for Ontario’s largest children’s treatment centre, Tess Mayne founded Words Plus in 2025 to respond to the need in the Oakville community for experienced private speech therapy services, and specifically for families of autistic or minimally-speaking children. Partnering with parents and caregivers, embracing neurodiversity, and supporting Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Words Plus empowers children and their communication partners to connect authentically and communicate—beyond spoken words.

Summary

Words Plus provides private speech therapy services for autistic or minimally speaking children through collaborative and neurodiversity-affirming care, including the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Services include a free discovery call, comprehensive assessment, and child-led therapy, offered in-home in Oakville, at the Lakeshore Medical Group office, or online across Ontario by experienced Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) or Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDAs).
